Next week is mine and my girlfriends one year anniversary since we got together a year ago and I want to take her somewhere special. I want to surprise her but I don't know if she would like to go somewhere expensive for dinner or some place a little more casual. Also, if anyone would have any suggestions of something else that we could do together iether before or after dinner would be much appreciated.

You can get a ton of ideas for great places to eat by typing "pitch.com" in the search box and hit search. Links to Pitch Weekly will come up, and the link to the restaurant section is about the fourth one or so down the page! Try clicking on the "Fine Dining" box on the righthand side to see the ritzy places in town. Explore that whole restuarant website. I've learned so much, I now have a list the length of my arm of places I want to try!!

To me, the most romantic place would be Skies Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency in Crown Center - best view of the city going! You can check out their menu, hours, etc. at hyattkc.com/skies

-you could go window shopping at Crown Center before or after, watch them make fudge and taste a free sample, or go to a movie at the theater there, or go see "The Nerd" at American Heartland Theatre.

For something else to do before or after, if she likes art, go to the Kemper or Nelson-Atkins - both always have some neat exhibits, and if you pick the right day, both are free. (Both have places to eat. I love the dining atrium at the Nelson - beautiful courtyard with a gorgeous fountain in the center. The food is good - if you don't mind going through a cafeteria line!)

Good luck! And Happy Anniversary! - B..

Check into a suite at the Chateau Avalon By the NASCAR track and go to one of the many nice resturants at the villagewest shoping center

Chateau Avalon

701 Village West Pkwy

(I-435 & State Avenue)

Kansas City, Kansas 66111

Or go to dinner at Raphael Restaurant on the Plaza You can take a horse and buggy ride before or after.

If you are on a budjet then take a couple happy meals from McDonalds with you on the buggy ride
